Read Ch. 2 of Lord of the Flies (time for questions in class) If you haven't finished Ch. 1 or the questions, please also catch up on that. Read to about halfway through page 22 (they're discussing voting for a chief). Please just read, we will discuss and work on this section of the book in class.
Here's a link to one audio version - there are many other resources for audio so if you don't like this one, do some Googling. Due Friday: Ch. 1 & 2 Vocab - Definition, part of speech and original sentence for each word: efflorescence, clamber, enmity, ebullience, recrimination Respond to the WPA prompt handout given in class, as preparation for the WPA in class on Friday.
Finish your body paragraph - be prepared for editing/revising those during class on Friday, and finishing your intro and conclusion. Check out this pdf that reviews citing sources and creating a works cited page.
Due Mon: Work on body paragraph for your group essay. At least write your topic sentence, gather your research and perhaps outline your ideas. We will work on structure and evidence next week.

Topic selection for argumentation/research assignment Be prepared to turn in your top 3 choices for your research assignment in class - you should include preliminary research on your top choice to be given priority consideration for your first choice.
